"Roanoke Girls never last long around here, in the end we either run or die" Ꮚ This book guides us around the life of the three generations of Roanoke Girls in Osage Flats, Kansas. Ꮚ Told from the perspective of Lane (a third generation Roanoke Girl), this story shows some of the ugliest truths of life. Ꮚ Lane arrives at Roanoke house the summer following her mother's suicide ( the only summer she lived there and enough to scar her for a lifetime) to her only family left whom she had never met. A thrilled cousin, a welcoming grandfather and an aloof grandmother wasn't exactly what she had been expecting when she left New York. Ꮚ But apparently things at Roanoke house weren't as simple as it looked. Here at Roanoke house she wasn't Lane, she was first and foremost a Roanoke Girl. And a Roanoke Girl is special. Why? She had no clue (at least not until the end of summer) Ꮚ Now, years later she is back at Roanoke house, one place she never thought she would see again cause her cousin Allegra is missing and she has to know what happened to her. . Personal overview of the book ゞ ❍ I would have to disagree with anyone who would say this story is about sexual abuse cause I don't think it is. I really don't think it can be classified as sexual abuse if there is willing participation (manipulation or not) ❍ You will get the hang of what it's all about within one or two chapters of the book but the real question was 'Who killed Allegra?' The answer although made sense was really difficult for me to guess cause their were a fair number of people for whom killing Allegra would have made a lot of sense. ❍ The relationships in the story are complicated to say the least. But what annoyed me really was how they complicated it further themselves. I am not supporting the bastard about what he did but this time it was all on the women. And I shudder to think how much truth the story might hold. ❍ I would say it's a pretty nice read if you don't get triggers. It's predictable but had the capability to make you want to know exactly things played out. . Happy Reading~~~ Toodles.
