Let's talk 'Enemies to Lovers' ⚔️
.
↗ Enemies to Lovers is literally one of the most loved tropes ever. With silly banters, daggers to the throat and misconceptions, this trope is almost irresistible to many.
But let's take a closer look into its making~~
Most of the times the characters who go from Enemies to Lovers aren't actually real enemies. It's generally a misunderstanding or some compulsion to their rulers/families/or even themselves which they gradually overcome to see the actual person behind the mask i.e. their exterior.
Others cases might be where their respective families or kingdoms have grown to hate each other and it is upon them to solve it.
Few stories even provide a history between the characters accompanied by a difficult decision or a betrayal to make it more interesting.
One of the more popular tropes in fantasy under Enemies to Lovers is the Assassin trope where the MCs are supposed to kill each other but fall in love instead. It is usually very entertaining to read/watch.
But, as established, mostly the MCs aren't really enemies. Some just harbour feelings for each other and turn to fights and bickerings in order to hide it.
In the very few cases where the main characters actually are enemies, the stories have to be developed in a totally different fashion. More difficult to write and express.
